A short summary at TMF LL of the call.

Ken Heebner

Ken Heebner, of CGM Capital Growth Manager, and Ken Volpert, of the Vanguard Funds, discuss what today’s rate cut means for the markets. Contend selling can only last for days or weeks. Hedge funds being forced to sell. Time of opportunity. Working through recession won’t easy, but now is not the time to be selling.

Anecdotal

A friend imports into Australia from China. He has turned into a Fx watcher. The rise and rise of the USD is phenomenal. A three year decline in USD has been reversed in one month. Big players must be getting seriously creamed by this. Sadia may be just the tip of the iceberg in the coming confessions of currency blunders.

Intelligent retired self funded investor who mange their own SMSF have sold out of shares. A near to retired blue collar working couple have just sold all their shares. How sad, it may rank as one of their worst financial decisions ever, as bank rates head lower and inflation climbs. Humm perhaps it is time to finally suggest to my parents to open a stock market account.
