Asias's discretionary consumersThere is a lot of negativity floating around these days. It would be a bizarre alternative world if there wasn’t! There is a lot to be negative about. However, it is priced into the market and unless a complete breakdown in capitalism occurs we’re probably within 20% of the bottom. Fear levels are high and people are finding it hard to see the inevitable upswing. GOOD I say. We must be even closer to the bottom than I thought.

Looking forward the world is just about to enter one of the most significant boom times ever. Propelled by the massive growth of consumers in China and India, the internet, the 4th wave of semiconductors and stable energy supplies the world will enjoy prosperous 2nd and 3rd decades this century.

There will be challenges, no doubt about it. Climate change, continued conflict, US debt, Western baby boomers hitting retirement plus scarcity of resources including water and food will all need to solutions.
