Test of Full Text Feed
I just added this blog to my own Google Reader. I was surprised to see only part of my text appear, my posts were all cut short. I had to click through to this site to read the entire text. Strange I thought, none of the other blogs I subscribe to have this ‘feature’. While I’d like people to come to this site and interact with me, I don’t expect people to have to come to the site. I’d find it annoying if all the blogs I subscribe to had this same feature.
I use Wordpress. I dug around and found ‘For each article in a feed, show Full text or summary’, that’s under Settings->Reading for anyone as hopeless as me, who never noticed that setting. So I switched that to Full text, pinged FeedBurner and nothing happened.
So, now an hour later and still no change I’m wondering if the setting only applies to new posts, hence this post to test that out.
By the way I only started using Google Reader a month or so back and have found it to be a great tool. OK that should be enough text for my test!
Ten minutes later.
Hooray! That worked and magically all my old posts now appear as full text as well. Now if only Google Reader would align my images as I do, or I guess if only I could work out how to ensure Feed Readers displayed my images as WordPress does then I’d be a happy chappy. That’s weird, now that I scroll down further I see it is not all my old posts. Maybe it simply takes time to update all of them. Oh well good enough for me. Enjoy the full text all.

Great, thanks for that Dean. I use GoogleReader also, but figured you had planned it that way.
Some famous bloggers who are in it for the money they receive from ad’s prefer it, because I don’t think you get ads in GReader if viewed there natively.
Still, I prefer to use google reader for its uniformity and speed.
Cheers & keep up the great blog and performance
Thanks a lot Darren, your kind words made my night. Admittedly my partner is out for the night and my kids were recalcitrant about going to bed, so the bar was set pretty low. Still thanks so much for taking the time to leave you wonderful feedback, I’m glad the change was immediately beneficial to someone.
