The Fusion Investment Portfolio will sell QQQQ at US market close today and buy the Australian market at open via the ETF STW.AX.

The Portfolio is currently outperforming the ASX200 by 17.1%.

I’ve been buying Australian today, adding to a recent position and starting a new one. Cash flowed in from selling MMA.AX in buyback for $0.70 (NTA-tax benefit) and a trimming back of Telstra late last week.
Cash balance still high. Despite my initial suspicions to the MMContrarian buy back, it was nice to get a large cash inflow at this time. I’m still working on my historical analysis for the ASX200 and aim to complete that prior to hitting fully invested again.

There is one important thing. Buy Fear Sell Greed. With little time for detailed research (bad move Dean) but a lot of money to put to work in the Fusion Investing Fund, the fund just bought 1,000 ANZ shares at $18.10. While Westpac Bank would have been a more conservative investment the greater potential of ANZ and my better understanding of ANZ swung my decision.

The -0.6% return compares favourably to the -15.4% for the ASX200.

Now is one of the times you need to be a net buyer of stocks.
While I don’t have strong conviction that the bottom is in I do see a lot of extremely good value in the market at the moment. I have been focusing on US stocks recently and will continue to do so as I also believe now is a great time for international investors to be buying US assets. The Fusion Investing Portfolio initiated a starting position of 1,000 shares in PFE at $17.68 at 23.40pm AEST.
I will update this post with more details tomorrow. The preferred outcome is for PFE to continue to head lower to allow a sizable position to built at lower prices.

Great Southern, GTP
The following was first posted on April 7 2008 on our old site.
Ospraie Funds, the world’s biggest commodities hedge fund firm with over $7 billion under management, is a major holder of Great Southern. During late February early March they increased their holding to 15%, this increased their holding by around 8% at prices ranges from $1.55 - $1.70.

Things have not always gone well for Ospraie and they had to close their Point Fund in 2006 after significant losses, being down 29% in the five months.
