As a child I always wondered why my father and his friends were not running the country. I couldn’t understand why dad wasn’t the coach of the All Blacks or why all referees were vision impaired idiots who did not know the rules. I was puzzled why only imbeciles were elected to run the country. My dad and his friends clearly knew better than all the coaches and politicians, their eyesight and in-depth knowledge of the rules of most sports were better than any referee. My dad and his friends knew how to fix the country and right all the wrongs. Why would no-one listen to them?

I am a market timer. However, I am not stupid enough to think I can time it with any accuracy. I am not arrogant enough to think I can predict the bottom. So I buy. I buy most comfortably on the way down, I am getting slightly better at not buying too early, but only slightly as my WM and IMB buys attest to.

I’ve accelerated my buying of late, particularly in our Self Managed Super Fund (SMSF) account. As I mentioned the other day the fund was cashed up and with new funds regularly added it makes sense to be buying more now.
I could start using margin in the months ahead, but most of the margin will be held in reserve for the next bull market to begin.

Mark is a great writer and as his blog is new, you’ll probably get some of his best thoughts over the coming months. I don’t know Mark and have no reason to recommend him, except my belief that his thoughts will be worth reading.
